PAST PROJECTS

I've worked on multiple projects with clients to produce or edit their own or others audio recordings. Rap/R&B songwriters and cover musicians who have seen what equipment I record with have contacted me with interesting projects. Below are just a few of the projects I've worked on for clients. I've worked with clients virtually and in person.

"Granny with an Attitude" & "Alpines in the City" Cover Songs for Beverly McClean

I was approached by a songwriter (and apparent grandmother) online who wanted me to make a instrumental arrangement for lyrics she had recorded on her phone via a music application. I was able to communicate and share/download files from her and for her via my email and phone. She wanted her vocals to sound better for one song she had written. I advised her to record without the cover song playing in the background, and to use headphones or earbuds when recording with her phone. When I received her vocal tracks, I was able to remix them to reasonable level and add internal SFX plugin automation within my digital audio workstation. I advised her to have me arrange an instrumental for the second set of lyrics. She sent me her lyrics, and I sampled them into an arrangement I created with my MPC One.

Gospel/Rock Songs for Poet Tanya "DeeDee" Graham

I was approached by Tanya Graham online to write three rock songs to go with her poetry. I communicated with her via Zoom to get guitar rhythm riffs that she liked, recorded into my digital audio workstation running as I was livestreaming with her on Zoom. She provided the lyrics that she described as "gospel inspired". She wanted me to sing her lyrics. She wanted the lyrics sung in a "Pete Townsend/Jimi Hendrix" fashion. This was the second customer that approached to create an instrumental for them, and the first that asked that I record her own poetry.

Vocal Isolation for the "Foreigner" Cover Band- "Rev"

I was approached by a drummer online. I accepted the contract to isolate vocals from over 18 live song videos for a band in Charlotte, called "Rev", a "Foreigner" cover band. They wanted to practice together, but the covering singer lived in Wilmington, NC, while the rest of the band lived in Charlotte, NC. The instrumentalists would use recordings of live shows to practice the rhythm and melodic structure. I was tasked with isolating vocals so they could practice without hearing all the extra instruments in the live recordings. I used a software called Izotope RX7 to accomplish this. It took me about the course of two days to complete the contract. I learned about Izotope RX7 from a shadowing session at GroundCrew Sound in Charlotte NC, and while recording in Ableton Live Suite with a music director and producer in Fort Mill SC.

"No", "Viral", and "Bothered" Single by Monica Hammonds

A R&B singer-songwriter approached me to record three single songs for her, no more than 10 minutes in total. Her lyrical content ranged from sibling comradery, working hard, to LGBTQ feelings. I worked with her to get correctly pitched vocals, timing edits on her vocals, and vocal tracks with various internal SFX applied to them. I spent 5 sessions with Monica developing her sound in the program.

"I Was Raped: A Friend's Testimony" by Dr. Ornella Umbeyiyi

A public speaker/online personality approached me to record voice tracks for her. She had heard a story from a close friend of hers, who had been through tragic circumstances. She wrote down her thoughts of her friend in the form of a speech. We recorded her reading the speech in three different languages that she spoke, including French, Rwandan, and English.

"Porschella"-A Trippy Dance Remix for Porscha Tomlin

A emergency doctor approached me online and asked if I could edit together different songs. I was tasked with creating meaningful transitions between these songs. My purpose was to create a seamless backing track to a video that she wanted to have shot of her and her friends dressing wildly and dancing in the natural beauty and urban landscape of a city/nature in Arizona, USA. She actually tipped me extra for the backing track I created.

"Dreams and Nightmares" - Original Song Recording for Junius Ray Faircloth (L.J.)

This song was written by the artist. I brought in multiple musicians to create the piece using piano, trumpet, bass, cajon, and an acoustic guitar. I recorded using an X-Y pair for the instrumentalists. I had to multitrack my piano/horn player, as well as my bass player, whose amp went out during the original ensemble recording. This was a great project to work on.

"She Bad for My Health" - Cover Song Recording for Hercules Burgess

I was approached online by a high school student and basketball player who wanted to record vocals over top of songs that didn't have any vocals which he had listened to on YouTube. He came prepared with vocals, to would perform "freestyle rap". I recorded him, mixed his vocals to how he wanted them with the software SFX plugin automation that I had knowledge of at the time. I also re-pitched and did fade/timing to his vocals and the instrumental track.

"Zero" Cover Song Recording for Jus'

I was approached by a "music manager" nicknamed "Fizz" who introduced me to his three friends who had interest in recording vocals over top of songs on YouTube. I had to get acquainted with how the group expected the recording process to be with the gear I was using at the occasion. I had to switch recording devices per their request. Some came prepared with written lyrics, and two did not and so they performed "freestyle rap". I recorded all three, but only the song that was made with Jus' satisfied the group enough to want to return to the studio again. I was able to mix his vocals to how he wanted them with the software SFX plugin automation that I had knowledge of at the time. I also re-pitched and did fade/timing edits to his vocals and the instrumental track.

My delivery focuses for my clients are instrumental and vocal composition, audio recording, mixing, EP and album mastering, as well as audio restoration if necessary! I offer remote and in-person services.
